SETTING UP OF FROZEN SEMEN BANKS
For the production of frozen semen, the
Department has 2 Frozen Semen Banks cum Bull stations in the state,
out of which one Semen Bank at Ropar is exclusively for the production of
Cow bull semen and other at Nabha for both Cow and Buffalo bull semen.
Semen Bank, Patiala is now working as semen supply centre. Frozen Semen
Bank , Kapurthala has been closed during the year 2005-06.
The strength of
bulls kept at these semen banks as on 31-3-2008 is given as under.

A total of 19.26 Lac. Frozen
Semen straws were produced at these semen
banks during the year 2007-08 as against
the target of 18.00 lacs. Because lot of Frozen Semen straws were stored
in semen banks.
